Wouldn’t it be nice if people would just do what you need the first time you ask? Alas, sometimes people drag their feet. Others continue to do the same old behavior, or forget to do a new one. In those instances, a few repetitive requests or reminders might do the trick. That’s right, it’s time to nag!
The art of nagging requires annoying someone into submission. It means persistently reminding someone until the person gets fed up and does what you need. If someone asks, “What are you, my Mother?” then you are on the right track!
The risk of nagging is that you might get a reputation for being annoying. They might dig in their heels further. If you have already made a request 5 times, there is a high likelihood that there is some other form of resistance in play than forgetfulness or procrastination. Before the nagging gets to that level, ask what might be holding them back, and offer to help.
Who might you need to nag?
